Once you make the leap into the world of essential oils you are going to ask yourself a series of questions…probably first being “How do I use this stuff?”
So there are 3 ways that I am aware of to use YOUNG LIVING essential oils, I want to point out quickly that everything I am telling you is about YOUNG LIVING oils only; I do not have any information on other companies so everything I say is in reference to YOUNG LIVING oils only. Read more about WHY YOUNG LIVING here.
The most common way to use essential oils is topically. This means exactly what it sounds like, rub it on top of your skin. I use oils in several different areas topically most commonly the feet, neck, temples and wrists. Both my kids get oils on their little feet every morning before they head off for their day. Whenever we have stomach issues we rub directly on the stomach. When I apply the oils to myself I usually put them on “neat”, meaning no carrier oil. When I use certain oils on my kids I will include carrier oil, my favorite is coconut oil. I put a little dab of coconut oil and a drop or two of Peppermint or Digize on their little tummies and I never hear a complaint. You can buy coconut oil at almost any health market or grocery store in the cooking section.
The next way is to inhale the oils; in order to do this you will use your diffuser. When you breathe the oils into your system you will send the therapeutic benefits directly to your brain. I LOVE diffusing in my house, the benefits are endless. My favorite Young Living Essential Oil to diffuse is “Thieves” due to the power it has against airborne bacteria. However, I use my diffuser for almost all of my oils. The diffuser is easy to use and all members of your family can reap the benefits…even the four legged furry ones J
So, when I first started using Young Living Essential Oils I was very skeptical about ingesting them, I would watch others do it and wanted to try but held back a bit. Let me be the first to tell you it is not scary at all, in fact it is now my absolute favorite way to use them. I will put a drop or two in a glass of water or add several drops of my favorite concoction to a vegetable oil capsule. My husband swears by his “ALLERGY BOMB” capsule which includes 3 drops lavender, 3 drops lemon and 3 drops peppermint. Lastly, you can just open up and dump it right down the hatch! I do this anytime I feel like slightest twitch of a sore throat, tip back and throw a drop of thieves in the back of my throat. It may feel like I just swallowed a gallon of red hots but I sure love the feeling afterwards.
